Goodwill TalentBridge is seeking a Slitter Operator to join our client’s growing manufacturing plant in McHenry, IL.

Temp to hire role on 2nd shift.


Schedule: Monday through Friday

Hours: 2nd shift 3:30 PM to 12 AM
Pay: up to $19 an hour
Work Location: Onsite


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Reviews and understands the production order and any special instructions.
  • Sets up and operates Slitting equipment with the supervision of the Team Leader.
  • Communicates with Material Handlers material requirements to meet production or packaging demands.
  • While running the slitting equipment, able to load material, set correct blade position, satisfactory run according to work order, complete work order in timely manner.
  • Able to troubleshoot faults during running. This includes tension, cut quality, rewind quality, and machine problems.
  • Works in the spirit of Learning. Able to be cross-trained on different machines and processes.
  • Calculates all material usage, including scrap, accurately and neatly and records on work orders.
  • Verifies the quality of the products will meet or exceed the quality standards. Able to detect defects in material. Reports defects to Team Leader.
  • Labels all finished products with accurate part numbers, work order numbers, lot numbers, customer information, and any other information required to process the product efficiently
  • Label unused raw material for return to the warehouse
  • Follows all safety practices and immediately corrects or reports unsafe conditions. Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Ability to read and understand all production specifications and work orders
  • Must be able to push, pull, and make other movements necessary to move multi-ton rolls of material from warehouse shelves, to forklift, and to proper positioning on machine. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. of weight.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and follow detailed work instructions from supervisors
