Goodwill TalentBridge is partnering with a premier client in Skokie, IL for a Maintenance Technician with mechanical aptitude fixing machinery, repairs, and building maintenance. This role will collaborate with other departments in a fast-paced entrepreneurial scientific organization.Schedule: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Pay: $30 an hour
Onsite Location: Skokie, IL
6-month contract with possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on alarm systems, gas detectors, and HMIs.
- Maintain safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and first aid kits.
- Respond to operational emergencies and urgent maintenance issues.
- Accurately document maintenance activities in the system (e.g., NetSuite).
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure parts are adequately stocked for maintenance activities
- Promote and adhere to Health & Safety standards; report concerns as needed.
- Flexibility to work extended hours when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Strong communication skills
- Proactive problem-solver and self-starter
- Ability to work with urgency and attention to detail
- Must understand and comply with company safety guidelines and housekeeping practices, trainings, and wear appropriate PPE when necessary
Preferred:
- Associate degree or technical training
- Experience with hazardous materials (chemicals)
- Forklift operation experience required (certification preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Comfortable climbing stairs and working from ladders
- Extended periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer
