Goodwill TalentBridge is partnering with a premier client in Skokie, IL for a Maintenance Technician with mechanical aptitude fixing machinery, repairs, and building maintenance. This role will collaborate with other departments in a fast-paced entrepreneurial scientific organization. 

Schedule: 1st Shift Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-4:30 PM
Pay: $30 an hour 
Onsite Location: Skokie, IL

6-month contract with possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on alarm systems, gas detectors, and HMIs.
  • Maintain safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, and first aid kits.
  • Respond to operational emergencies and urgent maintenance issues.
  • Accurately document maintenance activities in the system (e.g., NetSuite).
  • Work with Supply Chain to ensure parts are adequately stocked for maintenance activities
  • Promote and adhere to Health & Safety standards; report concerns as needed.
  • Flexibility to work extended hours when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive problem-solver and self-starter
  • Ability to work with urgency and attention to detail
  • Must understand and comply with company safety guidelines and housekeeping practices, trainings, and wear appropriate PPE when necessary

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or technical training
  • Experience with hazardous materials (chemicals)
  • Forklift operation experience required (certification preferred).


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 lbs occasionally
  • Comfortable climbing stairs and working from ladders
  • Extended periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer
