Qualifications:

  • Experience: 3+ years of knowledge in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), Current Dental Terminology (CDT), and Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD) coding systems.
  • Independent & Collaborative: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Problem Solving: Proficient in handling complex coding and billing issues.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, time, and project management skills.
  • Medical Knowledge: Familiarity with medical and dental terminology and clinical practices, especially frequently utilized procedures.
  • Research & Analysis: Experience with policy research, data analysis, electronic health records, and practice management.
  • Policy Knowledge: Understanding of government and private payor policies and basic marketing skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and travel up to 10%.

Requirements:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and maintain resources to assist membership with coding and reimbursement.
  • Respond to member inquiries regarding coding and reimbursement issues.
  • Maintain a tracking system for coding and reimbursement inquiries for trend analysis.
  • Notify membership of changes in coding and health policy.
  • Provide technical and staff support to the Committee on Healthcare Policy, Coding, and Reimbursement.
  • Assist with the implementation of in-person and online coding courses and webinars.
  • Help prepare and coordinate new/revised code proposals.
  • Develop new programs and resources for membership as necessary.
  • Support the Health Policy, Quality, and Reimbursement Manager.
  • Serve as the primary coding inquiry liaison through phone and email requests.
  • Monitor activities of CMS, NUCC, WEDI, HHS, and Correct Coding Initiative.
  • Refresh coding and reimbursement resources on the website.
  • Update the Coding and Reimbursement Library as necessary.
  • Coordinate content development and logistics for coding courses, committee meetings, and conferences.
  • Participate in national conferences, association meetings, and offsite recruitment efforts as directed.
