Please Note: this is a contract to hire opportunity!
In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and summarizing federal and state regulations that affect physician reimbursement. Medicare, Medicaid, and Commercial Payer policies included. In conducting extensive research and interpretation of policies, you will educate members on relevant governmental and payer policies affecting their coding and reimbursement system. Playing a pivotal role in developing and maintaining coding and billing resources and courses, you will also be responsible for supporting committees with recommendations on physician work values and practice expenses. In doing so, you will need to stay up to date on coding and reimbursement changes as well as current Medicate and/or third-party payer coverage and claim filing processes. A solid understanding of healthcare policy and its impact on physician reimbursement is essential.
Requirements:
- Key Accountabilities:
- Monitor, analyze, and interpret regulations and payer policies
- Prepare written summaries of policies and rules
- Attend committee meetings and collaborate with advisors on responses and initiatives related to procedures
- Contribute to the development, marketing, and planning of coding and billing courses
- Maintain Coding & Billing resources and courses
- Write and maintain reimbursement and payment policy content for publications, newsletters, and website
- Support staff onsite by attending in person workshops
- Provide support to the Health Care Policy, Coding, and Reimbursement committee and assist members in selecting appropriate codes, and troubleshooting claim denials
- Prepare meeting agendas and meeting minutes
- Coordinate committee projects and meeting logistics
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications:- Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, health policy, political science, or equivalent
- Experience: previous experience with health policy research, writing, payment policy analysis, billing and coding, and physician practice management; ICD-10-CM, CDT, CPT
- Knowledge: understanding of U.S. health system, insurance and reimbursement systems, Medicare, Medicare, Commercial Insurance policies, and current health policy issues
- Skill Set: excellent verbal and written communication, ability to work independently and collaboratively, strong analytical skill set, time management, and organizational skill set
- Travel Requirements: travel up to 10%
- Physical Requirements: must be able to lift up to 50lbs
