Goodwill TalentBridge, along with our client, is currently recruiting a Shipping & Receiving Clerk to work in the Lincolnshire area.

Job Description Summary

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator is responsible for daily material receipts and daily outbound shipment schedules. Other responsibilities include responding to shipment inquires and/or damage and shortage claims, IM discrepancies and reconciliation.  Within specific limits, makes independent decisions regarding the planning, organizing, and scheduling of the work involved.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare inbound receipts, schedules and all associated responsibilities related to containers/LTL receipts, tracking and schedules
  • Prepare all outbound deliveries and scheduling for pick-ups; keep warehouse calendar updated for all inbound shipments.
  • Document and respond to all shipment issues, particularly damage and shortages claims
  • Document and respond to all receipt issues or discrepancies including any related SAP processes and documentation
  • Document and track IM issues
  • Follow reporting procedures
  • Assist in supervising and coordinating activities of workers concerned with staging  product and preparing it for same day shipping, both nationally and internationally, via expedited carrier services
  • Train, motivate, and monitor performance of the Warehouse Team.  Provide constructive feedback as necessary
  • Check that warehouse team members are following established procedures (safety & non-safety related) and report violations to Assistant Manager of Distribution.
  • Responsible for suggesting methods to improve area operations, efficiency and service to both internal and external customers
  • Monitor the loading/unloading of all materials, ensure materials are staged for counting and inspection
  • Ensure receiving reports accurately report material received
  • Monitor and measure warehouse performance to ensure efficient, effective movement and storage of material
  • Monitor the flow of paperwork for timely data entry
  • Assist with resolving discrepancies regarding invoices, packing slips, and receiving paperwork
  • Monitor shipments to ensure customer specific requirements are met
  • Routinely enter and extract data from the appropriate computer system
  • Participate in continuous inventory cycle-count and yearly physical inventory as needed
  • Adhere to warehouse quality control guidelines and standards; make appropriate suggestions for improvements
  • Drive forklift in a safe manner ensuring loads are stable and secure
  • Maintain an orderly work environment by ensuring general maintenance and organization of the truck bay, dock and staging  areas
  • General housekeeping which includes sweeping, dusting, and mopping
  • Follow safety guidelines and department and corporate policies and procedures

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of packaging methods and ability to determine packaging requirements
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision; be reliable and punctual
  • Effective team leadership skills
  • Ability to multi-task, establish priorities and meet deadlines, maintain a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments, and maintain level of organization in a changing and fast paced environment
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Ability to comprehend a variety of instructions, both oral and written
  • Ability to be tactful and diplomatic in challenging situations
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Good oral and written communication skills 
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals; capable of understanding weights and measures
  • Intermediate knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications
  • Strong knowledge of computerized inventory system
  • Ability to operate fork lift trucks
  • Experience with UPS/FEDEX online software is desirable
  • SAP experience
  • Ability to operate telephone, copier, fax machines, and other general office equipment
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis, possibly overnight, often with last minute notice.
