Procurement Manager

Goodwill TalentBridge is seeking a Procurement Manager to work with our client, a regional non-profit organization with offices in Gurnee, IL.  The ideal candidate for this role will have three to four years of professional experience in Leadership, Procurement and Supply Chain Management.  This role offers competitive salary commensurate with experience, comprehensive benefits, flexible 1st shift schedule (weekdays) and a collaborative team environment.   

Responsible for implementing strategies and overseeing daily operations, the Procurement Manager focuses heavily on the procurement and supply management of materials, supplies and services, budgets and expenses, capital equipment, and services. This role will manage two purchasing clerks and report up to the Director of Procurement.

Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following: 

  • Overseeing daily operations
  • Directing staff
  • Implementing departmental policies, procedures, and programs
  • Maintaining operating budget
  • Managing expenses 
  • Directing the competitive bid process (includes identifying opportunities, drafting for supplies - equipment - and services, identifying potential vendors, submitting requests for bids, and proposals for materials or services)
  • Purchasing
  • Reviewing and negotiating contracts 
  • Evaluating and managing vendor performances, ensuring cost effectiveness, timely deliveries, and resolutions/corrective action plans for issues that arise
  • Supports internal and external parties 
  • Identifies and analyzes industry trends and demographics to ensure policies, practices, and programs are consistent with current and future needs 
  • Manages the purchasing software modules while working with the IT department to ensure accurate reporting and processing of information
  • Leads and develops talent managing the departmental structure, development, and training of staff 
  • Networking and sourcing for positions within the team
  • Planning and managing of projects related to departmental functions
  • Supporting and managing changes with direct reports 
  • Supports social trends and community engagement initiatives 
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

What's Required? 

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience fulfilling a Leadership or Managerial role within Procurement, Purchasing, and/or Supply Chain Management
  • Extensive knowledge of procurement laws, procedures, and practices
  • Knowledge of the Uniform Commercial Code
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree is a plus! 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally
  • Knowledge of ReQlogic is a huge plus!
