Goodwill TalentBridge seeks a Group Commodity Manager to work in this DIRECT HIRE role with our client, a leading manufacturer of ventilation, air quality and centralized building solutions. 

The Group Commodity Manager (GCM) will manage all aspects of assigned commodities and assume complete ownership of category suppliers.  These responsibilities include; managing Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), development of strategies and drive implementation across the organization.  This role will collaborate with other functions participate on and lead teams involved with New Product Development, Lean projects, and Value Engineering programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of assigned commodities, global supply markets, new technologies, pricing trends and of suppliers and their capabilities.
  • Develops, negotiates and executes contracts/agreements with suppliers that minimize TCO, improve quality and assure on-time delivery. Administers performance against contract and recommends a cause of action to rectify discrepancies.
  • Leads cross-functional commodity teams to implement commodity strategies with particular emphasis on value analysis, process improvement, and joint productivity improvements / cost reduction.
  • Support design engineering and marketing in new product development including new material, new technologies, quoting and prototype orders. Identifies and researches new materials and manufacturing technologies.
  • Provides support to site locations for chronic performance issues related to quality and delivery. Work with suppliers to develop assured capacity to meet manufacturing schedules.  Responsible for overall performance of suppliers in assigned commodities.
  • Maintains conduct consistent with company policy, division operating procedures, accepted practices and applicable state and federal regulations and laws.


  • Bachelors’ Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or relevant field.  ISM or APICS certification is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years commodity management experience in a progressive strategic sourcing environment, ideally supporting multiple manufacturing facilities – including international.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to create presentations and present information at all levels.
  • Experience negotiating, implementing and managing supply contracts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
  • Self-motivated to identify, analyze, and independently implement solutions to resolve issues.
  • Possess excellent judgment and analytical skills.
  • Resourcefulness in accomplishing objectives and completing tasks.  Demonstrated success in a multi-tasking, fast-changing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing sourcing strategies & plans
  • Other preferred qualifications include; prior motor and/or electronics experience, global sourcing experience, including Asia, and experience with Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies

Physical Requirements:

  • Domestic and International travel is required up to 25%
  • Perform work at a desk, and walking in and around manufacturing facilities
