Goodwill TalentBridge, along with our client, is recruiting for an experienced Facilities Maintenance Manager to work in the Chicago, IL area.


SUMMARY:
The individual fulfilling this role is responsible for insuring the facility is safe and well-functioning at all times while managing all maintenance services including the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, building and other facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  • Implement safety vision by chairing the site safety committee, tracking and reporting root cause counter measures related to safety, and making sure safety and shop work rules are clearly communicated.
  • Implements and maintains PM system for all manufacturing and facility equipment.
  • Planning, budgeting and scheduling facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor materials and other related costs.
  • Responsible for scheduling of operations, both corrective and preventative maintenance functions, and delegating to staff.
  • Schedules maintenance activities of both internal and external resources in conjunction with the operations team.
  • Maintains PM procedure documentation.
  • Ability to be hands on in repairing and maintaining equipment and facilities and needs to develop staff to insure cross training in all maintenance tasks.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems maintenance and repair.
  • Building run 480V 3 phase electrical.
  • Ability to assess issues and determine whether to resolve internally or with external resources.
  • Experience with PLC and/or microprocessor control as first level troubleshooting of these systems is required.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic system repair, maintenance, and trouble shooting.
  • Knowledge of building hot water heating system repair, maintenance, and trouble shooting.
  • Needs to hold a stationary engineering license or be willing to obtain one as process equipment utilizes a high pressure steam boiler.
  • Basic machining and MiG welding skills to perform simple repairs and fabricate tools and fixtures.
  • Oversees daily operation of the facility including but not limited to custodial staff, plumbing, building structure, and landscaping.
  • Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
  • Plans, budgets and schedules facility modifications, including cost estimates.
  • Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment and replacement parts. Stock and maintains inventory of key supplies and repair parts to minimize downtime
  • Oversees outside contractors that render services and maintenance support for tasks that cannot be handled internally
  • Manages the department and leads the processes associated with selection, development and performance management of direct reports
  • Conduct performance evaluations for employees
  • Monitor employee’s work against goals, providing appropriate coaching, feedback and corrections to ensure quality work is performed
  • Administer company's time and attendance policy along with the employee handbook guidelines; apply all policies thoroughly and consistently
  • Handle employee questions, comments, concerns and suggestions in an appropriate manner with regards to fairness and discretion, as outlined in the company handbook.

Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • BS or associate degree with technical training in plant engineering or factory/plant maintenance preferred; HS education minimum; specialized degree or study in mechanics desired
  • Needs to hold a Stationary Engineering License or be willing to obtain one.
  • Demonstrated experience with a minimum of eight to ten five years of progressive experience and responsibility in a maintenance field and within a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent knowledge of powered Maintenance equipment (Lathe, Band Saw, Milling Machine, etc.), manual and powered material handling equipment, and hand and power tools
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team while being firm and holding individuals accountable
  • Experience with 6 Sigma/LEAN manufacturing practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
