Goodwill TalentBridge is currently recruiting an Electrical Service Technician to work in the Waukegan/Gurnee area. Our client is an international company. Do you have a good sense of electrical components, assembly, wiring and programming control panels of industrial machinery? Do you like to work independently? This opportunity is a mix between traveling on your own and working onsite, assembling the electrical circuits and control panels of their industrial machines. 


Summary:

Works with Customer Support and Electrical Engineering groups to provide Installation Supervision, Commissioning and Trouble Shooting of equipment supplied by company. Provides direct link between customers and company to determine cause of service required, help to diagnose current issue and resolution implementation by performing the responsibilities listed below in North America (USA, Canada and Mexico).

 

 Essential Responsibilities/Duties: 

  • Handle customer calls regarding questions relating to the repair, service, and application by utilizing specific technical knowledge, training, and published literature / Company Documentation.
  • Assists the Customer Support sales calls to ensure equipment operates to the customer’s satisfaction.
  • Perform a wide variety of duties to diagnose and troubleshoot issues in the field and at the company plant.  Reports progress and technical problems to the Engineering Manager and/or service team.  Examples include (but not limited to) programming, components and wiring.  Also troubleshooting of Electro-Mechanical components such as switches and motors.
  • Consults with engineering personnel to resolve unusual problems in system operation and maintenance.
  • Assemble and test electrical control panels which includes hands-on installation and wiring of components.
  • Communicate with customer regarding equipment issues and potential sales opportunities (spare parts and/or service).
  • Perform setup and QC check out of new equipment prior shipping.
  • May be required to service/supervise customer’s new machine installations, commissioning.
  • May be required to trouble shoot controls issues remotely during non-business hours.
  • Travel is required, domestic as well as international (est. 50%, or as required).
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

Aptitudes and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as electrical drawings, Ladder Logic, flow chart, function diagrams, safety rules, procedure manuals, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Requires kneeling and bending and may require use of hands and tools.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

Education/ Training:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or Electronics with focus on Industrial Controls preferred or equivalent experience.

 

Experience:

  • Preferably 3-5 years of experience in the service business, national or international

Skills:

  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Requires sound industrial electrical hardware and software understanding.
  • Engages in proactive behavior and looks for service opportunities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Maintains awareness of and seeking to meet the needs and wants of the customer.
  • Logically breaks down problems and looks for solutions.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Must have experience with Rockwell Automation, (Allen-Bradley), Siemens, Eaton product lines.
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation control panels, Siemens, Johnson Controls, PLC programming and visualization software.
  • CAD abilities is a plus.

 

Other:

  • Must maintain a current passport.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to adhere to driving policy.
  • Bi-lingual abilities (Spanish) is a plus.

 

SCHEDULE
**DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY**

Pay: $24 to $30
Shift: 1st Monday - Friday; 7 AM to 4 PM (Negotiable)
Travel Required! 45% domestic; 5% international.
Opportunity for OT; Voluntary but sometimes mandatory; Fridays and sometimes Saturdays
