Goodwill TalentBridge, along with our client, is currently recruiting for an Experienced Quality Assurance Group Leader to work in the North Chicago, IL area.


Under general supervision of Plant Manager, assists production personnel with maintaining the plant and equipment in a sanitary condition, and monitoring the quality of raw materials, work in process and finished goods.



Food safety or quality responsibilities within job.  All staff are responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to those that can initiate action.

  • Is our SQF Practitioner and HACCP Coordinator and manages those functions, along with the development of Dietary Supplement and SQF procedures, forms, records and documents.
  • Conducts routine quality tests on incoming raw materials, goods in process and finished products as assigned or directed and communicates the need for corrective action to the QA Manager.
  • Assists in calibrating refractometers, thermometers, and other types of metering and measuring devise and scales.  Monitors the environment and processing conditions.
  • Preventative controls qualified individual – PCQI.
  • Assists in determining solutions for quality problems.
  • Assists in the disposition of customer returns.
  • Prepares written and/or oral reports pertaining to quality concerns of a technical nature as assigned or directed.  Completes and files daily Audit Forms and other Quality Assurance paperwork.  Computer processing work as required.  Neat and accurate penmanship is required.
  • Conducts material review and make disposition decision and approving or rejecting any finished product that does not meet specification or any reprocessing required to meet safe quality food commitment statement for quality.
  • Assists with the Organoleptic evaluations, GMP / Safety Tour and monthly audits.  
  • Quality shall ensure manufacturing, packaging, labeling and holding operations meets customer, certifying body, and regulatory requirement.
  • Dietary Supplement: Assist with reviewing all Master Manufacturing Records (MMR) and Batch Production Records (BPR) and all modification to such records.
  • Assisting with Quality Control (QA) laboratory test results, including any related laboratory out of specification (OOS) investigation, and testing procedures.
  • Assist to update current standard operating procedures for all products including packaged right limits, board weights, percent solids out-of-starch textures, holding times and formulas.  Distributes these to the production department.
  • Provides support and guidance to the production department on all quality and allergen issues. Monitoring and ensuring the maintenance of quality standards.  Maintain data on defects and report findings to the production department for their use.
  • Assists the routine inspection and testing procedures of raw materials, goods in process and finished product.  Updates written procedure manuals when needed.
  • Monitors records on quality, pest control, sanitation and allergens, SQF, HACCP, and CFR 111.
  • Accompanies inspector during FDA, Dietary Supplement, SQF and Kosher audits…etc.
  • Overseeing sampling and retain programs: Retains production samples by code date per procedures.
  • Maintains formula files on paper and in the computers (Kitchen) for work in process and intermediates. 
  • SQF document organization, filing
  • Directly supervise the activities of Quality Assurance with QA employees.




  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. SQF experience desirable.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail and Word.


  • Pay: $20/hr + based on experience.
  • 2nd Shift: 1:30PM - 10:00PM
