Goodwill TalentBridge, along with our client is currently recruiting for a 2nd Shift CNC Operator to work in the Grayslake, IL area. 

 

Summary:  Set up and operate a variety of CNC (computer numerical control) machine in order to produce products according to the customers’ specifications.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic CNC machinery set up functions by using preset program. Make minor adjustments to programs as needed.
  • Understand specifications required to fabricate products by reading blueprint, mechanical drawings and other drawings and written material.
  • Prepare and load materials onto the machine.
  • Perform basic tooling changes, as needed.
  • Use measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, thread gages, gage pins and tape measure.
  • Conduct inspections during the production process to verify product meets specifications.
  • Maintain productivity at levels that match or exceed production standards.
  • Communicate with Cell Lead on all issues related to discrepancies on drawing or BOM.
  • Responsible for following safety rules as well as using safe procedures.
  • Keeping all tools and supplies in their work area put away in the appropriate location on a daily basis. Keep work area clean and organized.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work closely with the Quality Control Department.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic ability to read blueprints/drawings.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Mathematically literate.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of various types of equipment and processes such as:

o Air and power tools

o Rulers, tape measures and gages

  • Ability to work independently.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Continuous standing, moving and reaching with arms and hand.
  • Frequently walks, bends, lifts and carries items.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs.

 

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in a shop environment.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, and odors.
