Or are you interested in working as a Medical Assistant or Patient Service Representative in Wheaton’s Medical Group? A special partnership between Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, a part of Ascension Wisconsin and Goodwill Industries will provide extensive paid training to individuals with a positive service attitude interested in becoming strong patient advocates.

Here are descriptions of the positions available through Project PRISM

Medical Assistant
Are you interested in become a new Medical Assistant? Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare, a part of Ascension Wisconsin and Goodwill Industries have joined forces to create a special partnership called Project PRISM which provides training to help them fill pool Medical Assistant needs.

Project PRISM is designed to recruit, train and hire self-starters who enjoy providing exceptional customer service and are willing to learn the technical skills necessary for success in the high-growth healthcare industry along with career ladder opportunities. Competitive pay is provided immediately. This position is a pool position. There is no guarantee of permanent employment; however, Wheaton is encouraged to fill permanent placements through TalentBridge’s pool of Medical Assistants.

More Information about being a Medical Assistant
The Medical Assistant is a patient caregiver who, under the direction of a provider, is responsible for direct and indirect patient care activities. The MA strives to maintain efficient and effective workflow to ensure high quality patient care.

  • Greet and room patients in a variety of clinical settings
  • Obtain patient vital information such as: Height, Weight, Pulse, Blood Pressure, record all information into EPIC
  • Utilize point of care testing, perform phlebotomy and immunizations
  • Follow physician and clinical protocol to adhere to patient safety standards, properly document all encounters
  • Stock, clean and maintain equipment and exam rooms in clinic
  • Work closely with physicians and other clinical staff to meet the needs and enhance the experience of Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group patients

Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (Diploma or Associates Degree). Good communication and organizational skills. This individual will abide with all HIPAA and Wheaton rules and regulations. Must have the ability to use EMR and EHR systems or computer based scheduling and documentation systems, especially PLUS and EPIC. BLS Health Care Provider Certification required.

Application Process:
The application process is intended to help us select the best candidates for the position, candidates that are committed to learning and providing world class customer service. It consists of the following steps:

  1. You will need to complete online application and resume (or submit hard copies)
  2. If selected, you will receive a short (five minute) phone screen
  3. You will also be asked to participate in a brief, four to six question automated interview.
  4. If you are selected after the phone screen and automated interview, you will be invited into our offices for an in person interview.
  5. Finally, if selected, you will complete training program outlined below.

Training Process:
Qualified individuals will be sent for three days of Project PRISM training on-site at a Goodwill location as well as 7-10 days of additional hands-on technical training on-site at Wheaton Franciscan. All positions will start in a pool capacity, filling in for short and long-term needs in the Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group.


Patient Service Representative
Are you interested in become a new Patient Service Rep? Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare and Goodwill Industries have joined forces to create a special partnership called Project PRISM which provides training to help them fill pool Patient Service Rep needs.

Project PRISM is designed to recruit, train and hire self-starters who enjoy providing exceptional customer service and are willing to learn the technical skills necessary for success in the high-growth healthcare industry along with career ladder opportunities. Competitive pay is provided immediately. This position is a pool position. There is no guarantee of permanent employment; however, Wheaton is encouraged to fill permanent placements through TalentBridge’s pool of Patient Service Reps.

More Information about being a Patient Service Rep

  • Check patients in when arriving for their appointments, notify all necessary staff of patient arrival. Check patient out after office visit
  • Collect co-payment for patients, advise patient of outstanding balance and money due at time of appointments
  • Verify patient insurance, demographic and contact information, make any necessary changes needed
  • Utilize the PLUS schedule system to schedule future appointments and make any necessary changes
  • Answer incoming calls and utilize EPIC to document patient phone calls and messages, follow up with patients and other staff as needed to handle communication
  • Utilize a high level of customer service to greet all patients and assist with any patient questions or concerns

Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma. Good communication and organizational skills. Prior customer service experience is required, as are outstanding communication skills and a desire to interface with a variety of people. Computer proficiency and solid data entry skills are also necessary. While prior customer service experience is required, prior experience in a health care setting is not required.

Patient Access Representative
More Information about being a Patient Access Representative:
As a Patient Access Representative you will speak directly with patients, physicians and insurance organizations to facilitate patient registration and ensure the accurate scheduling of medical appointments, procedures and tests. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate scheduling information and accurately record information obtained, while maintaining patient confidentiality. The Patient Access role requires outstanding customer service, along with great attention to detail, the ability to thrive in a fast paced environment and a high degree of integrity. Empathy, flexibility and exceptional communication skills are required. Our mission is to ensure that each patient’s experience is a positive one.

Requirements:
Prior customer service experience is required, as are outstanding communication skills and a desire to interface with a variety of people. Computer proficiency and solid data entry skills are also necessary. While prior customer service experience is required, prior experience in a health care setting is not required.

  5. Finally, if selected, we will ask you to come to Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare to meet with both a hiring manager and Goodwill TalentBridge recruiting consultant.

Training Process:
The training, orientation, and contract employment process lasts approximately 13 weeks during which time you will work as a Goodwill TalentBridge associate. You will begin your paid training and orientation with three days at Goodwill Industries, and then the remainder of the paid training, orientation, and contract employment will happen on-site at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare. Upon successful completion of the training, orientation, and contract employment period, a position at Wheaton, including full benefits package, will be offered.
